OBITUARY OF MARY EVALINE WASHBURN AMES

Mary Evaline, daughter of Chas. and Maryette Washburn, was born in Greenwich, Ohio, June 9th, 1859. She departed this life October 9th, 1924, aged 66 years, 4 months. She was born on a farm in Greenwich Township, Huron County, Ohio, where she lived until her marriage to Edward Ames December 7th, 1878. They began housekeeping in New London, Ohio, where their two daughters were born -- Edna, now Mrs. Ed Simons*, of Chicago, and Marie, Mrs. Will Bixenman, of Crown Point. In the spring of 1886 they moved to Crown Point where she has since resided with her family.

She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Crown Point in 1897 and has continued a devoted member of the same and has been a regular attendant when her health would permit. She leaves to mourn her passing, a devoted husband, two daughters, four grand-children, two sisters, five brothers, and a host of relatives and friends. Her father, mother and two brothers preceded her to the great beyond. Those of her parents' family present at the funeral were Nelson Washburn and nephew, of Ohio; Darwin Washburn and wife and Mrs. Ardella Fancher, of Crown Point.

Her devotion to her family was manifest to the last.

Death came without a struggle, and an expression of peace and rest remained upon her face. She has gone out into the freedom of the spirit of God. -- Lake County Star.
