George Banfield was born in Kentucky May 26, 1860, and passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kirby, near Lowell, May 21, 1920. He was married to Mary J. Davis, March 27, 1882, and to them was born five children, two who with their mother have preceded him in death. Three, Taylor M. Banfield, of Chicago; Mrs. C. E. Netherton of North Judson, Ind.; Mrs. Robert Luckey, of East Chicago, Ind., and also one brother, A. J. Banfield, survive him. Mr. Banfield suffered for some weeks with a disease which was found incurable, but through it all was patient and hopeful, never losing his faith, until at last his Master took him home to his loved ones gone before.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church Sunday at 2 p.m. The service was in charge of Lowell lodge 245 I.O.O.F. he being a member of the order at Moorehead, Ky. Rev. Harry Hamilton, pastor of the Christian church preached the funeral sermon. The music was furnished by members of the church choir. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service. The following members of Lowell Odd Fellows lodge acted as pall bearers: Oscar Brooks, William Graves, Edwin Sanders, C.M. McVey, C.U. Ragon and L.W. Ragon.
