Albert Belshaw, 77, of R.R. 1, Lowell, who was driving the farm tractor, was reported in "fair" condition today in Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Dyer. He suffered possible fractured ribs.
THE DRIVER of the truck, Jessie F. Thompson, 36, of Blanchester, O., was reported in "fair" condition today in St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond. He suffered a possible fractured neck and ribs. His son, Michael, 9, a passenger in the truck, was slightly injured. His condition was reported as "good" by St. Margaret aides.
State police said the truck rammed into the rear of the slow-moving tractor.
A freight truck, also headed south, rammed into the tractor, tearing off the rear left wheel. Mr. Belshaw was thrown into the field and escaped with possible fractured ribs. Taken to Our Lady of Mercy hospital in Dyer by ambulance, his condition is reported to be "fair."
The truck driver, Jessie Thompson, 36, of Blanchester, Ohio, and his son, Michael, were taken to St. Margaret's hospital in Hammond. The boy received only minor injuries while his father suffered a possible fractured neck and ribs.
The truck had picked up its load at the Globe SidingProducts factory here. The heavy cargo caused the truck to jackknife and it overturned in the ditch.
