Ambrose Bennett (1865-1947)

The following obituary and card of thanks was found on page 6, column 2, of the May 15, 1945, Lowell Tribune:

In the year 1890 he was united in marriage to Margaret Burke, and to this union five children were born. Mrs. Bennett passed away May 16, 1916. Three children have also preceded their father in death.

In July, 1926, he again married to Mrs. Emma Slocomb, who survives him.

His occupation most of his life was farming. Later working for the state, retiring in 1932.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Emma of Crown Point, his two children, Paul of Creston and Mrs. Marie Smith of Hammond, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 9th at 2 p.m. from Sheets funeral home with E.L. Worley officiating. Burial in Lowell cemetery in charge of Kenneth Sheets.

NOTE -- In the above article, Margaret Burke Bennett's death date is listed as May 16, 1916. This is likely a mistake since a copy of her obituary was found in a 1917 newspaper and listed the death date as March 20, 1917. Their marriage date is also in question, since Margaret's obituary listed it as Oct. 18, 1893, but her husband's obituary lists it as 1890.

On Friday a number of Creston folks attended the funeral of Paul Bennett's father, A. Bennett, of Crown Point. The funeral was in Sheets funeral home in Lowell. Mr. Bennett was a former resident of this community,
