Mr. and Mrs. John Borum were here from Valparaiso several days last week visiting her parents, the Arthur Edmondsons. John enlisted in the air corps in December, and was called for duty last week. He has gone to Sheppard Field, Texas, where he will begin training as a pilot. His wife expects to join him there, soon.
This March 25, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 3:
Mrs. John Borem visited her parents, the Arthur Edmondsons, here Friday and Saturday. Mrs. Borem left Chicago Saturday for Sheppard Field, Tex., where she goes to join her husband, who is taking aviation training there.
Note that in this article there is a different spelling of the last name "Borum."
The following article was found in the April 8, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 2:
After being stationed at Wichita Falls, Texas, for several weeks, Pvt. John Borum of the U.S. air corps, has been transferred to Denver, Colo., where he begins basic flight training. His wife, the former Martha Gene Edmondson, who has been with him, is staying with her aunt, Mrs. A.R. Sorg, and husband, at Oklahoma City, Okla., until Johnny gets settled in his new location
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the February 15, 1945, issue (page 5, column 4):
Lt. and Mrs. John Borum, who have been at Fresno, Calif., are now at the home of his parents in Valparaiso. They will come here to visit her parents, the Arthur Edmondsons, this week. Mrs. Borum, who has been a hospital patient, is much improved. Lt. Borum leaves for overseas duty the last of this month.
This June 14, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 5:
A daughter was born to Lt. and Mrs. John Borum, Tuesday, June 12. The little Miss has been named Susan Jo. Mrs. Borum is the former Martha Gene Edmondson.
This August 2, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
Mrs. John M. Borum received a telephone message from her husband, Lt. Borum, saying he had arrived in the States. Lt. Borum was seriously injured when his P-61 crashed somewhere in Germany on June 6th. He will be sent to Billings hospital, Indianapolis, for further treatment. Mrs. Borum and baby daughter, Susan Jo, will join him there next week.
