The following May 31, 1895, Lake County Star article was found in the
Local History clipping files at the Lowell Public Library (LH--Vital
Statistics, vol. 5, page 1):
Claimed by Consumption
Wm. S. Brown, aged about 22 years, died at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon,
very suddenly, but it has been known for sometime that his time on earth
was short. He has been failing . . . [something missing] . . . up until
a very short time before death. He was treated at the Indianapolis
Consumpive hospital early this spring, the expense being paid by the
county, but the relief he received was only of short duration. He has
had considerable care by Trustee Muzzall, but all was fruitless with the
exception of making him comfortable. His funeral was largely attended
at the Christian church, Tuesday.
