The following October 11, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 6, column 3:
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burkhalter of Hammond, were guests of Mrs. Emma Hayden last Wednesday. Mr. Burkhalter has just been discharged from the army after serving overseas for three years.
