The following April 29, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 4:
Mrs. H.A. Dodge and daughters, Mrs. Scott Powell of Lowell, and Mr[s]. Cyril O'Connell of Hammond, were in Chicago Tuesday of last week, where they met Pvt. Thuel Canning of Longview, Washington, who was passing through the east. Pvt. Canning is the son of Mrs. Lillie Canning, sister of the late Hiram Dodge, and formerly resided here.
