Mrs. George Gault rendered a prelude of bridal selections preceding the service and played sacred music while pledges were made. She also accompanied Mrs. Ray McIntyre of Morocco, cousin of the bride, as she sang "Because," Through the Years" and "The Lord's Prayer."
Given in marriage by her uncle, Harold Carstens, the lovely bride was attired in a floor length gown of white nylon net over taffeta, discriminated by a short taffeta jacket fashioned with Peter Pan collar and batwing sleeves cut to bracelet length. Her finger tip veil of nylon illusion was caught to a pearl-trimmed Juliet cap of white satin. She wore white satin slippers and nylon mitts and carried a white Bible covered with white orchids from which cascaded white satin ribbons knotted with rose buds.
For her role as maid of honor, Miss Norma Pounds wore a formal gown of ice blue net over matching taffeta, distinguished by a net stole. As bridesmaids, the Misses Jean Gerner and Diana Van Dyke chose Flamingo pink net over taffeta and yellow satin, respectively. Both gowns featured shoulder capes. All wore white satin slippers and wrist corsages of white gardenias.
James Purkey served the groom as best man and Leonard Allie and Forrest Wietbrock acted as groomsmen.
A white orchid corsage adorned the steel gray crepe dress selected by Mrs. Edwin Cartens for her granddaughter's wedding. The groom's mother, Mrs. Oscar Carlson, attired in a dark print silk also wore an orchid corsage.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Lowell Legion building where 300 guests gathered to extend best wishes to the newlyweds before they left on a two-week honeymoon trip to Florida. For traveling the bride wore a navy gabardine suit, winter white accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet.
