Casey, a former Crown Point resident and former public relations head of the Chicago offices of N.W. Ayer & Sons, Inc., was announced Dec. 22, 1942, by the commanding officer of the army new twin-engined advanced flying school, Pampa, Texas.
Major Casey, commanding officer of the 362nd sub-depot at this huge air base, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Casey of Linton, Ind., and the father of Mrs. Reed A. Giese * of Gary.
The sub-depot is the organization that performs the task of procurement, storage and issue of airplane supplies, as well as the services of inspection, maintenance, and overhaul of airplanes.
A World War I veteran, Major Casey served with the 45th infantry from 1917 to 1918 and was honorably discharged from active duty with the rank of first lieutenant. He was re-commissioned a captain on March 25, 1942, in the army reserve corps and ordered to immediate active duty. He was assigned to the Oklahoma City, Okla., air depot as public relations officer. His second assignment, Aug. 15, was as assistant supply officer, followed by assignment here as commanding officer of the 362nd sub-depot.
NOTE: Various news articles spell the married name of Mr. Casey's daughter as "Geise, Giese, or Geisen.
