A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article, hand-dated August 4, 1932, was found in the Lowell Public Library's clipping files:
John "Bud" Clancy, former well known baseball player here when Lowell had a salaried team several years ago, has joined the Brooklyn National League team and is now playing first base for the Dodgers. In his first game last Sunday he got six hits in eight times at bat in the double header against the Chicago Cubs. "Bud" went to the big league from here, as he was playing first base for Lowell when he got his tryout with the Chicago White Sox for whom he played first base for several seasons. He has been with Jersey City in the Eastern league for some time. "Bud's" many friends here are pulling for him to stick in the big show for many seasons yet.
