Niles Clement and Ann Vandercar were married at Orchard Grove December 9, 1874, by Rev. B.H. Beal, who was pastor of the Lowell Circuit. They have always lived in this community enjoying the respect of a multitude of friends.
Niles says he was not surprised but Ann things he was. Anyhow, everybody had a hilarious good time. Niles refused to go through the ceremony because he does not believe in marrying the same woman twice. They are a happy couple coming along the highway of life enjoying the fruits of an honest, industrious life. Their daughter, Vada Galloways, of Kewanna, Illinois, was present. Their other daughter, Alta Stanley, of Gary, could not be at home for this occasion but had her father, mother, and sister for the day in her own home.
The neighbors presented Mr. Clement a gold coin and Mrs. Clement a gold thimble. The evening was a most enjoyable one for all.
