Neal Clifford, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Clifford, of Burnham Street, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and has been sent to San Diego, Calif., for recruit training. Neal would enjoy hearing from home friends and sends his address: Pvt. Neal Clifford 1296365, Plt. 157, 3rd Recruit Trg. Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego 10, Calif.
The following May 22, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 4:
Pfc. Neal Clifford is back at Camp Pendleton, Calif., after spending ten days at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Clifford. The platoon to which he is attached is now undergoing advanced combat training.
