page 5, column 3:
Mr. and Mrs. Volney Cobb entertained at their home Saturday afternoon,
twenty-seven persons in honor of their little daughter Violet's fourth
birthday anniversary. Those present were her Sunday school classmates
and teacher, Mrs. E.L. Worley, her little neighbor playmates besides
Mrs. A.H. McCoy, Mrs. Giles Odle, Agnes and Alice Powell and Georgia
Baker. The afternoon was spent in playing games, eating popcorn and a
peanut hunt; the prize was won by Lela Clark who found the most peanuts,
the peanuts being hid by Agnes Powell. Little Violet received many
pretty presents. At 3:30 the children marched into the dining room
which was decorated with autumn leaves in remembrance of the season.
Four candles burned on a beautiful pink cake. A dainty lunch awaited
them. The little children were very gracefully waited upon by Georgia
Baker, Agnes and Alice Powell. At 5 o'clock all departed for their
respective homes wishing Violet many more such happy birthday
anniversaries.
