The following article was found in the March 4, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 1:
Training at Camp Haan, Calif.
A letter received by Mrs. Della Coleman of Cedar Lake, informs her that her son, Pvt. Roscoe Coleman, is taking his basic training at Camp Haan, Calif. Coleman describes it as the "beauty spot of the world". He says that the commanding officers there are a regular bunch and drill right along with the boys. Roscoe is in the coast artillery.
