David's death raised the toll of Hoosiers killed in the Vietnam War to 969.
The funeral service was held Monday, June 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Sheets Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward Leigh officiated. Burial was in the Lowell Cemetery.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Collins of 549 Indiana Avenue, Lowell, Collins attended a University of Missouri extension while stationed near Kansas City. He received his basic training at Lackland AFB, Tex., and technical training as an aircraft equipment repairman at Air Training Command School at Chanute AFB, Illnois.
He is survived by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Collins; two brothers, Dale Eugene Collins, in the Navy, and Dennis Arthur, at home; one sister, Patricia Ann, at home; and his grandmother, Mrs. Olive Sears, Florida.
