The following September 1, 1927, Lowell Tribune news clip appeared on page 8, column 3:
The Creston school will be closed this year. Heretofore, the children of both Cedar Creek and West Creek townships in this vicinity attended school at Creston, This year the Trustee in Cedar Creek decided to transport the pupils in that township to Lowell. As 18 of the scholars live in Cedar Creek, this leaves but seven in West Creek township to attend school here. Seven being too few to hold school, they will be transported to Sheridan school three miles west of here. If each family would adopt a few children, we would be able to keep our school.
