The following Nov. 28, 1920, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1:
E.H. Croxton, a former principal of the Mt. Ary school, was found guilty of beating his wife in a Kankakee court Monday, and fined $100 and costs. Being unable to pay the same he was remanded to jail. Croxton's first wife, who was a Mt. Ayr girl, obtained a divorce a year ago on the grounds of extreme cruelty. He had been married less than a month to the woman who caused his arrest. -- Morocco Courier.
Mr. Croxton taught in the Lowell High school for one year.
