Mrs. Fred Dahl, Sr., died at her home in West Creek township last Saturday. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Berg, of Hammond, conducted the service. Interment at Lake Prairie.
She was united in marriage to Frederick C. Dahl in 1874. To this union thirteen children were born, eleven of whom with her husband survive. The remaining children are Mrs. Emma D. Young, of Huntington, Ind.; Mrs. Harriet D. Hoffman, of Joliet, Ill.; Harvey W., of Pullman, Ill.; Otto J., Hannah H., Esther C., Rena W., Fred A., Grace M., Anton F., Hilda L., of Lake Prairie. She is survived also by four brothers, Avery, John, Fred and Frank Avis, of Otis, Kansas.
Mrs. Dahl was a consistent Christian, a faithful wife and a devoted mother. Her life was lived in service for others, and her memory will roll down the years, a guide and inspiration to her family and friends and will bear fruit for ages to come.
To know her was to admire and respect her Christian fortitude and bravery; her calmness in suffering and her wonderful battle to gain mastery of disease.
While sorely missed by her loved ones and friends there abides with them the assurance that she has simply gone on a little in advance, and is now in the arms of Jesus, whom she loved and served.
The funeral services were held from her late residence Tuesday afternoon, May 16, with interment in Lake Prairie cemetery. Rev. C.A. Berg, of Hammond, Rev. C. H. Little, of Lake Prairie, and Rev. A.W. Hoffman, of Joliet, Ill., officiated. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the interment.
* NOTE -- While this obituary puts Mrs. Dahl's birth year as 1855, a "Pioneer History" column by Town Historian Richard Schmal puts it as 1854. The Lake Prairie Cemetery Indes at Lowell Public Library has it litsted as 1856.
