Pfc. Leon D. Davis, son of the Halsey Davis[es] of Lake Village, who is stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, recently wrote to his grandmother, Mrs. Iza Cobb, of his successful completion of studies. An Honor Roll student, Leon ranks third in his squadron.
The following September 13, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 1:
Mr. and Mrs. Halsey Davis of Lake Village were flown by their son, Stanley, to Sheppard Air Field, Texas, recently where they attended graduation exercises. Their son, Col. Leon Davis (grandson of Mrs. Iza J. Cobb of West Commercial), an honor student, completed his course in aircraft mechanics. Leon is now studying helicopter mechanics at San Marcus, Texas.
The following January 17, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6:
Cpl. Leon Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Halsey Davis of Lake Village, purchased a two-place Ercoupe of Harold Sorensen and will fly the plane to San Marcos, Texas, where he returns at the expiration of his 25-day leave. Leon is attending helicopter school.
