Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Graceland Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. David Kovalow, St. John, officiating.
Max and his wife, Thelma,were married in Norfolk, VA, while Max attended school to become a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy in 1942. He saw service in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of war and in six invasions of Guam, Philippines and Okinawa. After the war, he was Superintendent of Dunes State Park and later became a realtor, forming his own company as Max Dickey Real Estate in Valparaiso. He retired from real estate in 1993. He was active in many social and business enterprises. He was the first president of the Valparaiso YMCA when it was started. He was a member for many years of Rotary and a member of Lloyd J. Harris Foundation. In younger years, he was vice president of Indiana Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He was a emmber of Lodge #137 of F & AM-Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and a former Shriner.
He was a member of First Christian Church for many years. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Frist Christian Church, 1507 Glendale Blvd., Valparaiso, or any other charity of your choice.
