The following article was found in the April 29, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 2:
Mrs. H. A. Dodge has received a letter from her son, Sgt. Robert Dodge, in Australia, in which he sent welcome news of his brother, Sidney Dodge. Robert was granted a seven-day furlough and went over to the Solomon Islands where he located Sidney in a hospital, still suffering with malaria. Sidney is with the Marines and was in the first force to land on Guadalcanal last year.
The following August 31, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 3:
Dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clark and family were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Latta, her sister, Lois Latta, and her niece, Ione Saum of Ambia, Ind., her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Latta of Independence Hill and Sgt. Sidney Dodge.
