The following unidentified newspaper article was in a collection owned by Lowell Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Miss Lois H. Foote was born in Kankakee Co., Ill., July 24, 1863, and died in Lowell Sunday evening, Oct. 7, 1888, at the age of 25 years, 2 months and 13 days. Her disease was consumption. Her mother died when she was an infant, and at the age of eight years she was deprived of her father by death. She was reared by Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Pattee who gave her all the advantages of an own daughter and her loss will be deeply felt by them. She was one of our most successful teachers in our public schools; having taught a number of terms in this township. She was the last member of her family, having lost her only brother a few years ago. She united with the Methodist church last winter under the ministration of Rev. Tillotson, and her daily life attested the sincerity of her purpose. Her disposition was of that gentle and amiable kind that made her many warm friends wherever she went. Her loss will be deeply and sincerely felt in this community. The friends and relatives have our warmest sympathy in this their dark hour of bereavement. Her funeral took place from the M.E. church at 10 o'clock a.m. Tuesday, Rev. Tillotson officiating. Her remains were laid to rest in the Lake Prairie cemetery there to rest until the morning of the first resurrection.
