The following undated, unidentified newspaper article was found in a copy of Helen Craft's Scrapbook at the Lowell Public Library:

Alfred Gale Passes Away, after Being a Sufferer for Many Years.
Alfred Gale, son of E.E.W. Gale, M.D., was born in Newbury, Berkshire, England, on June 27, 1837, and died at his home on Wheeler Island, Indiana, January 20, 1899, being 64 years, 6 months and 23 days old. The deceased landed with his parents in New York in 1845, and came to Dyer, Lake county, Indiana, in 1859, and was married September 12, 1860, to Harriet A. Ayers, of Bloom, Ill., to which union nine children were born. He came to Lowell in 1864 and resided in and around Lowell until 1874, when he moved to Wheeler Island, Indiana, where he remained till the death angel called him to his better home.
He leaves a wife and seven sons and daughters to mourn his loss.
He was one of the old settlers and was respected by all who knew . . . [article was cut off at this point.]
