A copy of the following newspaper article, Hand-identified as being from the March 2, 1956, Star, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
TO MARK 100 SOON
Saturday, March 10, to the innumerable friends in Crown Point, has virtually only one meaning this year -- it brings Dr. J.C. Gibbs to his 100th birthday. The beloved physician, for so many years an essential part of this community, has now lived long enough in Sanford, Florida, to be claimed as its own. The anniversary will doubtless be amply kept by residents there. But it is certain that friends here, not fortunate enough to call on him at birthday time, will want to send their grateful greetings to him at his home in Sanford at 905 Magnolia Avenue.
William Steeb, secretary of Lake Lodge 157, F & AM, said that 540 letters had been sent, covering the entire membership, asking that cards be sent Dr. "Jimmy" in celebration of the day.
"Dr. Gibbs" Steeb said, "is only two years younger than the local lodge itself and he served as its master for three terms -- in 1895, 1897, and 1898.
