The following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the July 22, 1954, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Funeral services for George R. Golding, 76, of 4843 Jefferson St., Gary, who died Saturday, were held in the Geisen Funeral Home, Crown Point. He was a resident of Lowell five or six years ago before going to Gary.
The Rev. Paul Shults officiated and burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Crown Point.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George Shallenberger of Gary, Mrs. Vernon Everett of Crown Point, and Mrs. Andrew Lasenyie of Los Angeles; two brothers, James of Harvey, Ill., and Jack of Enos, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
