FRED GORDON DIES IN LAKELAND, FLA.

Fred Gordon, 74, who headed the Gordon Players, a stock show that performed under a tent for many seasons, several years ago, died June 19 at Lakeland, Fla. He had been in declining health for some time.

Many here will remember the Gordon Players who annually gave a tent show on the McNay lot east of the Fay Singleton home. Fred was associated with William Taylor, who built the old Grand Theatre that stood on the present site of the Nazarene church. During the winter months, outstanding players were staged at the Grand. The theatre was torn down by WPA about 1931 and the material was used to build the present county highway garage on Charlevoix Drive.
