Eugene Hare, son of Louander and Harriet Hare, was born in the state of New York, September 8, 1832. He was untied in marriage to Sophronia Ryan November 1857, Mrs. Hare passed away March 27, 1900. To this union were born five children, Kate Hare, who died in infancy, Edward Hare, who died at the age 27, Mrs. George Cunningham, of Lebanon, Indiana, Fanny Burncastle, of Chicago, and Mrs. H.M. Ford, of Cedar Lake, with whom he made his home for the past twenty years. He passed away on Saturday, February 14, 1920, at the age 87 years, 6 months and 6 days.
He leaves to mourn his loss three daughters, four grand-children and four great grand-children.
Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Ford at Cedar Lake, Monday, February 16, 1920. Rev. C.A. Brown, pastor of the Lowell M.E. church, preached the funeral sermon. Interment in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service.
