On October 28, 1922, she was united in marriage to Howard T. Harless, of Joliet. They lived in Hammond until January 1st, when her illness began. Later they lived at Griffith and in March moved to Joliet.
Mrs. Harless was educated at Lowell and Hammond, graduated from the latter school in 1915. Later she took a course in public speaking and was a talented reader. In early life she became a member of the Lowell Christian church and was an active worker, serving as pianist. She always responded to all calls for service and helped in evangelistic work by singing and playing. The two years she lived in Griffith she served faithfully as pianist and teacher. She made hosts of friends and was loved by all who knew her. She greatly enjoyed all lines of Christian work and to the end maintained her faith and cherished her hope in Christ. As the end drew near she was calm and trustful and quietly fell asleep. During her six months illness she was always brave and patient and was very appreciative of those who ministered unto her. Beside her husband and parents she is survived by four brothers, Cyrus W. and George O., of California, Wm. McKinley and Norman J., of Joliet; two sisters, Gertrude A. Riehl, of Griffith, Laurel I., of Joliet.
A brief service was held at Joliet Sunday morning, and the remains were taken to Lowell for burial. Services were held here at the Christian church, Miss Reed, of Chicago, and Rev. Menian, of Griffith, officiating, reading as a part of his service the 23rd Psalm. On account of her brother, Cyrus, not arriving from California the interment was not made until Monday, when she was laid to rest beside her brother in the Lowell cemetery. The following persons from Joliet acted as pall-bearers: Messrs LaVerne DeGerold, Planick, Johnson, Luther, Ed Hansen and Bert Hansen.
Those attending the services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Harless, son, Earl, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harless, Mr. and Mrs. Art Froling and daughter Eleanor, and Mrs. Weener, of Dyer; Messrs and Mesdames Cleve Harless, Charles Miller, James Stilwell, Blunk, Wixon, Mrs. Green, Kathryn Hoye_, Winifred O'Neil, of Joliet; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Sargent, Mr. and Mrs. James Palmer and daughter, Ella, of Hammond; Messrs and Mesdames A.S.
