A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Died, at her home in Three Oaks, Michigan, on October 31, 1892, at the age of 51 years, 7 months and 12 days, Mrs. Josephine Haskins, wife of James H. Haskins, a former resident of Lake County. She had been a great sufferer of that fatal disease -- consumption -- since last April, and during all her illness was patient and willing to submit to her Master's will whatever he sent upon her. She was the mother of eight children, four having preceded her to the Home above. She leaves a husband, four children and many relatives to mourn their loss.
