The following undated newspaper obituary, found in the local history clipping files at the Lowell Public Library, was identified as having come from E. Fisher's scrapbook, 1894-1900. Handwritten next to the article is the explanation "Helen Craft Scrapbook made by Mrs. Craft's mother Ellen Fisher 100 years ago."
The funeral of Mrs. Alvah Hayden took place at Sherburnville M.E. church, sermon by Rev. E.P. Bennett last Saturday at 2 p.m. Miss Lizzie McCombs ne [sic] Hayden was born in Mechanichsville, Iowa. March 20th, 1871. Died at the residence of Mr. John Hayden, Kankakee Co., Ill., Sept. 21st, 1894. Her age was 23 years, 6 mos., 1 day. She was married Oct 11th, 1890. She leaves a husband. two children, and many relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
