The following December 4, 1924, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6:
SLOWLY IMPROVING
Mrs. Orville Hayden has returned from Peoria, Ill., where she went to see her brother, Cecil, and wife. She reports Cecil as slowly improving from the condition he was found in at Miami, Florida, last month. He is now able to talk some and says the story as it was told here was correct, that he was assaulted and drugged in Peoria, but further than that he remembers nothing until he was found in the Florida city. He is now able to get around a little on crutches and it is the hope of his many friends that he will soon entirely recover his health.
