He made a confession of his faith in God and was baptized at Lowell in 1887. After his marriage he united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Hebron, Indiana.
He was married to Miss Sadie McCalpin of Hebron, Indiana, on December 15, 1894. To this union two daughter, Carol and Dorotha, were born. Carol, on October 30, 1915, at the age of 19 years, closed this earthly life and passed on. Dorotha [is] now Mrs. Henry Miller living near Hebron.
Phillip E. Hoshaw was a member of Hebron Lodge Knights of Pythias for many years and was directly responsible for the erection of their Castle Hall, having joined with them in its building. He also was a member of teh Modern Woodmen Camp at Hebron and served as the Camp Clerk until on account of his illness he could no longer care for the work of the office.
Mr. Hoshaw, while a resident of Hebron, Indiana, was continuously identified with and very active in church work. His faith in God was a sustaining power in his illness and on August 5, 1924, at the age of sixty years, 5 months and 2 days, he quietly crossed the bar to join the Savior he so loved and trusted.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and daughter, Dorotha; an aged father, Henry Hoshaw, of Lowell; three sisters, Mrs. E.J. Pixley, Mrs. E.N. Hayhurst and Mrs. J.W. Belshaw, all of Lowell; one brother, Allen Hoshaw, of Crown Point; and a half brother, J. N. Hoshaw, of Ligonier, Indiana.
