Chuck Faverty, son of Marion Faverty of Lake Dalecarlia, and Don Hyatt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hyatt of Cedar Lake, who enlisted in the navy on October 24, are stationed at Great Lakes, Ill. Chuck graduated from L.H.S. last spring and is assigned to Camp Downes with his classmates, David Grant and Bob Schultz. Don, who also attended Lowell high school, is at Camp Perry. A December 27, 1951, Lowell Tribune article (page 2, column 1) listed Don Hyatt as one of many servicemen from the Lowell vicinity arriving home for the holidays.
This February 14, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
Undergoing recruit training at the U.S. Naval Training center, Great Lakes, Illinois, is Donald R. Hyatte, seaman recruit, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hyatte of Route 1, Cedar Lake.
Before entering the Naval service on October 11, 1951, he attended Lowell high school.
