The following undated, unidentified newspaper article was found in a copy of Helen Craft's Scrapbook at the Lowell Public Library:
Alice R. Kenyon was born at Pleasant Grove, Lake county, Ind., January 7, 1852. She resided with her parents on the old homestead until 1888 in which year her father died; her mother having passed away a few years before. Soon after her father's death she went to Bloomington, Ill., where she has lived the most of the time since. Her death occurred at the home of her aunt Mrs. Arnold in the city of Atlanta, Ill., January 30, 1896, and was therefore a few days past 44 years old at the time of her death. Her disease was peritonitis. She was of a quiet and unassuming disposition and was highly respected by all who enjoyed her acquaintance and will be sincerely mourned by many outside her immediate relatives. Her funeral occurred Saturday, February 1, at 10:30 a.m., from the Methodist church, Lowell, Rev. B.L. Allen officiating, she being a member of [the] Christian church. Her remains were laid beside her father and mother in the Lowell cemetery, there to rest in quiet slumber until the morning of the first resurrection then to come forth to meet and to greet her dearly beloved ones of earth.
