Among the many tragic deaths which occurred over the weekend was that of Carl Loeffler, 46, prominent Crown Point resident, who was killed on the Fourth of July when struck by lightning while playing golf with friends at the Youche County club. He was an assistant superintendent at the Gary Steel Works, a member of the Crown Point Presbyterian church, Civic club, Lake Lodge F. and A.M., and the Gary Elks Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Jean, and two children, Donald and Elizabeth.
