He was united in marriage, March 19, 1879, to Mary Jacobs, and they lived in Lowell, where he was engaged in the boot and shoe business until about 1882. Then they moved to Chicago and lived there ever since, except for a few years when they lived in Dakota and Wisconsin.
All his brothers and sisters have passed on before him, except his sister, Mrs. Mary Arnott, who resides in Lowell.
Although he lived in Chicago and made his home there for many years, every time he came back to Lowell to visit his sister and brothers, it was a home-coming with old friends and neighbors.
On July 10, 1925, he passed away to his last hoe at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 15 days. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Helen, and one sister.
The editor has known Jacob Lorscheider since he was a small boy and in that time had learned to love him as a true friend, and in all the visits he has made back to Lowell there was a very few times that he did not call at this office and visit with us for a short time. He was a man for whom we had the highest regard and in his death we feel that we have lost one of our best friends.
The remains were brought to Lowell Monday and funeral services were held at the M.E. Church. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. C.A. Brown. Interment was made in Lowell cemetery.
The deceased had been a member of Lowell lodge of Odd Fellows for many years. While in Chicago he affiliated with Cook County lodge and members of that lodge came down and conducted the funeral services of the order. The following members of Lowell lodge acted as pall bearers: George J. Hoevet, Lewis Falk, William Graves, Max L. Ragon, Arthur Williams and L.W. Ragon.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Nieces and nephews -- Lillian Huyck, of Minneapolis, Kate Snyder, Harvey Snyder, Arthur Lorscheider, Anna Lorscheider, Chicago, Henry Lewis and Earl Lewis, of Lansing, Mich., Clyde Phelps, Jessie Phelps, Pearl Jacobs and Fay Jacobs, of Chicago, Owen Jacobs and Rose Jacobs, of Hammond. Cousins -- Nick Klein, of St. Louis, Mrs. Tillie Mundernech, Nelson Mandernech, and Mrs. Elnora Bachman, of Gary. Brother-in-law -- William Jacobs. Members, Odd Fellows from Chicago -- Robert Dalzell, Brothers Gordon, Yeadon, Steffen, Allendorf and others. Friends -- Mrs. Adele Cooper, Orland, Ill., Miss Edna Schade, Mrs. Ida Schade, Mrs. Nellie Parker, Mrs. Lucille Stockdale, Miss Lillian Grauer, Miss Marguerite Collins, Miss Tessie Moroney and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schleyer.
