The following February 12, 1920, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 2:
The many friends of Attorney W.J. McAleer in Crown Point were very sorry on Monday to hear of the death of his daughter, Verna McAleer, who died quite suddenly with pneumonia which followed an attack of "flu" at Madison, Wis., where she was a student in the university. The death of the daughter is the fourth to the family in the past few years, tragedy after tragedy following at short intervals. The first great shock to Mr. McAleer was the untimely death of his nephew, Vernon McAleer, who was accidently killed; the second, the death of his brother, Robert McAleer, who was killed in an automobile accident on the Lake George road; the third, the recent death of his mother and lastly his daughter. -- Lake County Star
