Harlingen Army Air Field, Texas -- Pvt. Robert W. Atkinson of Lowell, Ind., began his nine-week basic training program here today.
This course consists of instructions in first aid, map and photo reading, close-order drill, military discipline and camouflage. Instructions in the use of the carbine and other small arms will be given. Forty hours of physical training and four-day bivouac.
Pvt. Charles W. McKinney, Jr., of Rural Route 2, Lowell, also began his nine-week basic training period at the same air field last week.
