The following February 3, 1927, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 5:
Charles Edward McNay, son of John and Phoebe Jane McNay, was born on a farm near Manteno, Ill., December 2nd, 1861, and died at his home in Crown Point, Sunday, January 30th.
His parents passed away in the year 1906 and 1912 respectively.
He was the eldest of three children, Rose Jane, who passed away in 1913 and Lewis E., who passed on last September.
When a child about nine years old, his parents moved to the farm at Orchard Grove where he grew to manhood.
On January 2, 1883, he was married to Alvaretta Addie Fuller, of Orchard Grove. To this union three daughters were born, all living, Nellie May, now Mrs. Life, of Amile, Louisiana, Alvada, now Mrs. Lockhart of Crown Point, and Itha Pearl Golda, who lives in Chicago.
There are one grand daughter and four step grandchildren, all living.
He became a member of Puritan Camp Modern Woodmen of America in the year 1902.
Funeral services were held at the home in Crown Point at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service was in charge of the Modern Woodmen camp at Crown Point of which he was a member. Interment was made at Orchard Grove cemetery.
