Donald J. Miller

Roland J. Hoffman, Walter H. Crouch and Richard S. Walden, who reported on Tuesday of last week for induction in the armed forces, were assigned to serve with the Marine Corps. 16 were inducted into the army -- Ronald A. Gross, Alfred E. Smith, Brice A. Weiler, Charles G. Steffel, Everett L. Molden, Charles R. Krieter, John A. Clemens, Raymond F. Crilley, Joseph G. Schelfo, Richard F. Van Doring, Lester L. Wien, William J. Johnson, James L. Scott, Robert M. Kedzo, Herbert R.E. Gerst and Donald J. Miller.

Pvt. Donald J. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Miller, of route 1, Lowell; recently completed eight weeks of basic training with the 8th Infantry Division at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

He has been assigned to attend the Light Truck Drivers School conducted at Fort Jackson by the 12th Engineer Battalion of the Eighth Infantry Division's Specialist Training Regiment.

During primary training he fired the standard infantry weapons, engaged in platoon and squad tactics, and underwent intensive physical training. Most of the men completing the eight-weeks training will attend a service school, which will qualify them as specialists in one of the Army's career fields.
