The following obituary from an unidentified newspaper comes from Town Historian Richard Schmal's collection:
Russell G. Olson, age 76, of Mundelein, Ill., formerly of Lowell (where he was raised and known as "Boy" or "Little Ollie"), passed away Tues., Apr. 28, 1998, at Fradert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. He is survived by: his wife Louise, to whom he was wed Nov. 12, 1949, in Chicago; four sons, James (Linda) of Arlington Heights, Ill., Steven (Sylvia) of Indian Creek, Thomas (Diane) of Island Lake and John (Vicky) Olson of Rolling Meadows; six grandchildren; one sister, Marguerite Gawlich of Mundelein; brother Carl Olson of San Mateo, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Emma Olson, and an infant son. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the First Calvary Div., serving in the Australia, New Guinea and Admiralty Islands Campaigns. Russell Olson worked as a cabinet maker the majority of his life and was a member of the Carpenter's Union of Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the charity of choice in his memory.
