A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
Died, at her home just east of town, on Saturday, May 2d, 1891, Mrs. Eliza A. Pelton, daughter of Benjamine and Hannah Erb. She was born in Woodstock, Canada, on the 3d day of March 1848, and was therefore but 42 years, 1 month, and 29 days old when death claimed her. She was an indefatigable worker; and all through life faithfully performed her duties and did her work well. She became a child of Jesus when but 12 years of age, and was a member in good standing in the Presbyterian church of this place at the time of her death. The funeral services, which were very largely attended, were conducted by her pastor at the church on Monday, May 4th. The text chosen for the occasion was Prov. 14:32 -- "The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death."
The interment took place in the Crown Point cemetery. Two children a mother, three brothers, one sister and many friends are left to lament her early death.
