The following news item was found on page 5, column 3 of the August 30, 1917, Lowell Tribune:
Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson, Saturday, August 27th, a son.
* NOTE -- The 1930 and the 1931 school enumerations both list Charles' birth date as Aug. 25, 1917.
A sentence at the end of an article about Franklin Peterson in the January 18, 1945, issue (page 1, column 5) of the Lowell Tribune added, "A brother, Pvt. Charles Peterson, is stationed with U.S. forces in England."
This August 2, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Pvt. Charles Peterson, Jr., has been here visiting his parents, the Charles Peterson, Sr. A patient in the hospital at Camp Atterbury, Ind., he is solwly regaining his health. He is now with his wife at the the home of her parents at Momence.
