Mr. and Mrs. Peter A. Guertin of 82 North Church Street, Manteno, are parents of the bride. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Phebus of State Line Road. Sister Mary Bernard, organist, accompanied Don Wolf as he sang "Wedding Prayer" before the ceremony and "A Little Prayer" as the bride placed a bouquet at the alter of the Blessed Mother. Traditional wedding marches were also a part of the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a gown of sate peau featuring a boat neckline, long tapered sleeves and a full gathered skirt cascading into a chapel train. Tiny covered buttons formed the back closing. Her veil was of French imported rose point Chantilly lace fashioned into a mantilla, a gift from Lt. Gary Guertin, the bride’s brother. He purchased it in Chantilly, France. She carried pink roses on a white fan with pink rosebuds on white streamers.
Miss Peggy Phebus, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Her gown of white nylon organza over blue taffeta featured a boat neckline, cap sleeves and a fitted bodice. She carried blue carnations with white tips on a blue and white fan.
Bridesmaids were Miss Bonita DeBouck, Miss Delores Ruder, Miss Winona Fatheree and Miss Pamela Nixon. They were attired in powder blue nylon organza dresses styled identically to the maid of honor’s. They carried white carnations with blue tips arranged on white fans.
Best man was Dale Heidemann of rural Grant Park. Groomsmen were Lt, Gary Guertin of London, England, the bride’s brother, Richard Cirks of Beecher, cousin of the bridegroom, Larry Hamann and Kenneth Heldt, both of Grant Park.
Ushering were George Cirks of Beecher, cousin of the bridegroom, and Paul Loverin of Sherburnville.
A reception, held in the church hall, followed the ceremony. Serving were Miss Barbara Contois, Miss Bonita Behrends, Mrs. Kay Hamann, Mrs. Sharon Heidemann, Miss Jeanne Granger and Mrs. H.A. Miller.
Following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, the couple will be at home on State Line Road. The bride chose a black and white double knit suit for traveling. She wore black and white accessories and a white glamellia corsage.
Mrs. Phebus graduated from Manteno High School and attended Mississippi State College for Women at Columbus, Miss. She is employed at Parent’s Magazine Enterprises, Inc. in Momence. Her husband is a graduate of Grant Park Community Unit 6 High School and is engaged in farming.
