The following October 19, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1 column 4:
Son of Former Lowell man Killed In Action Sept. 11
Mrs. C.D. Pinkerton has received word from her son, Dr. Forrest Pinkerton, of Honolulu, Hawaii, stating that his son, Pvt. James Pinkerton, was killed in action in France, on September 11th.
The young man had visited his relatives here a number of times and was well known to many of our residents.
