SCOTT POWELL DIES SUDDENLY IN NEW YORK HOTEL

Local Man Victim of Heart Attack Enroute Home After Working 9 Months in Ireland

Scott Powell, 42, enroute home from Ireland, where he had been employed for the past 9 months by the Lockheed Overseas Corporation, passed away suddenly last Saturday afternoon at the Clinton hotel, New York City, where he had stopped on his homeward journey, after suffering a heart attack. The remains were prepared for burial in New York and arrived here yesterday.

Mr. Powell spent most of his life time here, where he attended the local schools. He was employed as a mechanic at the John Miller garage for several years and at Roy's Body Shop in Hammond for two years prior to going to Ireland as a mechanic for Lockheed.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lucy Dodge, and one daughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Powell, and two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Stanley and Mrs. B.F. Roberts, all of Lowell. A brother, Earl, preceded him in death several years ago.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m., in charge of Kenneth Sheets. Interment will be made in Lowell cemetery.
