Pvt. Leonard Prohosky of Lake Village, has been transferred to the Seymour Johnson Field, N.C. Pvt. Prohosky was home on furlough last week and visited friends in Lowell.
This March 29, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6:
Miss Bette Clemens of Shelby, accompanied S/Sgt. Leonard Prohosky to Chicago, last Monday. He will return to the convalescent hospital in Santa Ana, Calif., after spending a 15-day furlough with his parents, near Lake Village.

Leonard J. Prohosky, age 68, of Shelby, passed away Wed., Nov. 4, 1992. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; two daughters, Ellen (Jerry) Adank of Crown Point and Pegyg (Grant) Everman of Shelby; one stepson, David (Gayla) Snell of Grove, Ga.; four stepdaughters, Patricia (Richard) Ridgeway and Ruth (John) Goff, both of Merrillville, Cathy (Lou) Guglielmucci of Chesterton and Jane (Michael) Hillard of Hobart; eight stepchildren; and four brothers, Norman (Carol) Prohosky, Leroy (Peg) Prohosky and Bob (Wanda) Prohosky, all of Roselawn, and Marvin Prohosky of Reno, Nev. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 from Sheets Funeral Home, Lowell, with Rev. Tim Rumely officiating. Burial followed at Lowell Memorial Cemetery. Leonard Prohosky had retired from LTV Steel Co. after 32 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 454 of New Chicago.
