A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Sept. 13, 1956, Lowell Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
VISITS HERE AFTER AN ABSENCE OF 42 YEARS
Charles Propp, of Los Angeles, California, accompanied Max Davison of Chicago to Lowell Sunday for a visit with friends here. Both resided in Lowell long ago. Max pays regular visits to friends here, but it was Charlie's first visit "back home" since 1914, 42 years.
Very little in the old home town looked natural to Charlie. His father operated a clothing store here prior to 1901. It was located where the Lowell National Bank now stands.
