Mr. Reed came to Cedar Lake at the time of the World's Fair in 1893 and with his wife has since made his home there. He was a traveling salesman for a large shoe house. Mark Reed was well known here and was a man who was well liked by all, being of a genial and jovial disposition, always greeting you with a smile.
He leaves his wife and a large circle of friends to mourn his death. Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday of last week in charge of Rev. T.H. Adkins, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Crown Point. Interment was made in the Maplewood cemetery at Crown Point.
